Two planes took 379 Chinese people from Antigua and Barbuda and nearby countries back to China on Sunday after the Caribbean island of Dominica was devastated by Hurricane Maria.

The city’s railway bureau set up special channels to transfer 26 of the passengers from the airport in Shanghai to their hometowns, to ensure they have a happy and safe reunion with their families during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, authorities said on Monday.

They took two train services that left Shanghai on Monday, heading for southwest China’s Chongqing city, Chengdu of Sichuan Province, and Pingxiang of east China’s Jiangxi Province.
