Party held at Guilin Park to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival

A garden party was held at Guilin Park in Xuhui District on last night to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls today.

The park is famous for the sweet scent of osmanthus flowers. It has been a tradition to enjoy the moon under osmanthus trees at the park.

People wore ancient Han costumes and worshiped the moon based on ancient traditions, including guessing lantern riddles under osmanthus trees. Yueju Opera was performed amid rockeries and pavilions. Tea art show was staged and the music of guzheng, a Chinese stringed instrument, could be heard.

About 1,000 osmanthus trees are in full bloom at the park. 

The party will also be held tonight.
