Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden in Songjiang District will host a fruit and vegetable picking event on Saturday.

Autumn is the season of harvest and a variety of fruits and vegetables including hot peppers, gumbos, eggplants and basil are available for picking.

Nearly 20 species of rarely seen plants, such as snake and swan gourd, can also be picked.

The tour to the "plant kingdom" also includes a lecture to help people recognize different plants.

The picked fruits and vegetables can be taken home. Application is available on the garden's WeChat.

Over the weekend, the garden will also host science popularization activities, encouraging visitors to accomplish different plant-related tasks and win gifts.

The weather for the events should certainly be an improvement from what the city suffered at the start of the week, according to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.

Friday should be overcast to cloudy, with the temperature ranging from 18 to 23 degrees. It should be sunny to cloudy on Saturday, with a similar temperature range to Friday.

On Sunday, sunny to cloudy weather is also expected and the mercury should hover from 17 to 22 degrees. Both Monday and Tuesday should be cloudy.
