Free consultation provided on Chongyang Festival
Shanghai hosted a variety of activities such as free medical services and legal consultation today to celebrate the Chongyang Festival.
The festival falling on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month is a day when respects are paid to the country’s senior citizens.
At the Fuxing Park in Huangpu District, more than 100 volunteers provided free services like legal consultation, hairdressing, home appliance repair, blood pressure measurement, cataract examination and clock repairment for the elderly.
Doctors from Zhongshan Hospital, Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai General Hospital and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine provided free medical consultation at the park.
Free consultation also covered senior care homes, seniors' marriage, education, medical insurance, consumer protection, housing, notarization, legal assistance, psychology, cell phone usage, and how to prevent financial frauds.
Meanwhile, the Shanghai Consumer Rights Protection Commission also hosted a free consultation for seniors on Nanjing Road E.
Health products, financial products and tourism are the three fields with the largest number of complaints from seniors, officials with the commission said.
Experts provided guidance over home appliances, health products, tourism, automobiles, clocks and spectacles for seniors to safeguard their rights.
