One still missing after boat collision on Huangpu River
A ship lost control and collided with other two boats, causing one of them to capsize on the Dongjiadu segment of the Huangpu River at 9:50am yesterday, according to the Shanghai Maritime Search and Rescue Center.
The 149.48-meter-long ship Baodilong 9, weighing 10,222 tons, collided with Suzhong 858 and Deqinghuo 1925.
Three people were onboard the capsized 30-meter-long Deqinghuo 1925 — two were rescued by nearby boats, but one is still missing.
The other boat involved sustained no damage.
Huangpu Maritime Bureau sent three patrol boats, one tug boat and one salvage ship to the scene after the accident happened, while Shanghai Maritime Search and Rescue Center issued a navigation warning.
The waterway around the scene is now back to normal although the search continues for the missing person.
