South Pacific islanders perform traditional dances.

From wooden carvings to necklaces made from shells, traditional artworks from island countries in the South Pacific were displayed at a cultural event held on Tuesday.

These countries aren't familiar to many locals, said the organizer Dahvida Falanitule.

Some of the handicrafts shown were also exhibited at the World Expo 2010 Shanghai.

Among the items showcased on Tuesday were a bowl made from a Niue Island palm tree and a war club from Fiji. Song and dance performances were also staged.

Another exhibition from the islands will be held on December 26 and 27 at the Jing’an Shangri-La.
