Personalized tour experiences provided in Shanghai
Personalized tour experience is becoming a trend as travel review websites join hands with hotels to bring in-depth and unique experiences to tourists.
Travel review website Mafengwo and Atour Hotel on Thursday launched nine short itineraries and tour products in Shanghai specially designed for nine types of tourists: those who like local delicacies, shopping, showing off photos on social media, making friends during trips, following off-the-beaten-track, visiting popular scenic spots and shutterbugs.
For tourists who look for "traveling like a local" experience, the route will take them to learn making cheongsam from Shanghai tailors, sip tea at local teahouse and listen to Kunqu Opera, while shutterbug travelers will be taken on a photo trip at the historical Zhangyuan Garden with black-and-white photographic film and have film processing at a camera lab.
A city walk is designed for travelers who like sharing photos on WeChat with destinations including authentic local longtang (laneway) on tranquil Shanyin Road and historical cultural street Duolun Road to learn hidden stories behind old villas and Binjiang area in Pudong.
A 72-hour flash hotel was created at Atour's Xuhui outlet for the event, and nine rooms featuring different decoration styles for tourists with these nine travel habits are available. They feature items with strong old Shanghai flavor like rickshaw, old clocks, vases and sewing machine, or Polaroid calendar and photo works.
