Shanghai mayor meets newly-appointed Luxembourgish ambassador to China
Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong met Marc Hubsch, the newly-appointed Luxembourgish ambassador to China, yesterday.
Ying said China and Luxembourg established diplomatic ties 45 years ago, and the friendship of the two countries has been ever deepening. Shanghai and Luxembourg have cooperation in trade, finance and cultural industries.
Shanghai is working hard to build its technology and innovation center and develop the core functions of the city, Ying added. Luxembourg is the world renowned finance center, which has cooperation with Shanghai’s universities in cultural and educational exchanges.
Also, Luxembourg this year has simplified the Schengen visa application process for Chinese tourists, thus further facilitating cooperation and exchanges between the two countries, said the mayor.
Hubsch said that he was impressed by Shanghai’s achievements in technological innovation and education. He expressed his welcome for Chinese companies to invest in Luxembourg, and for more Chinese students to come to Luxembourg to study.
Luc Decker, consul-general of Luxembourg in Shanghai, also attended the meeting.
