Shared bicycles that were illegally parked removed from Changhai Road
Authorities have removed 1,000 shared bicycles that were parked illegally along Changhai Road, where Changhai Hospital is located, this week.
Police in Yangpu District are working with the Wujiaochang Town government to tackle this problem.
The shared bicycles parked illegally along the kilometer-long Changhai Road were obstructing pedestrians and cyclists, even though parking areas for bicycles were clearly demarcated. That drew complaints from the public.
Authorities have used trucks to remove the offending bicycles and deposited them at a government compound.
Shared bicycles removed from Changhai Road have been placed in this compound set aside by the Wujiaochang Town government.
Police said it takes two hours to transport 100 bikes away so that they can clear only 300 bikes every day, but they have been taking to companies to make them take more responsibility in curbing illegally parking of their bikes.
So far none of the shared bike companies has come to claim the removed bikes, police said.
