Big data technology was used to provide more information to researchers and scientific groups in a newly opened one-door service center at No. 57 Nanchang Road on December 28.

After two months of trial operation, the center now has merged six different databases which covered more than 18 million pieces of information about intellectual properties, experts, patents, academic works and among others.

The databases will provide more constructive information to the researchers or groups.

“By applying the big data technology, we aim at providing more efficient and integrated service that answers all sorts of researchers’ questions,” said Yang Jianrong, vice-chairman of Shanghai Association for Science and Technology.

Ten professional service agencies such as legal consulting and project review have settled in the center.

“For example, if a company wants to fund a patent project of a lab, they can find information here,” said Yang.

The center also developed an APP Creative Science Daily that reports scientific news in five different languages.
