Research center set up to promote Belt and Road textile industry cooperation

A Belt and Road International Cooperation Research Center for Textile Industry was unveiled at Donghua University on Friday.

The research center was jointly set up by the university, the China Textile and Apparel Education Society and the China Textile Planning Research Association to support international development of China’s textile and apparel industry.

It will carry out researches on language, culture, history, market, trade, laws, policies, technologies and professionals related to textile industries in Belt and Road countries.

Based on the findings, it will provide advice for government to make decisions or work out strategies and serve enterprises with consultation and technological support when they are trying to enter the global market and participate in international competition and cooperation.

It will also carry out cooperation with other institutions and enterprises in China and abroad in academic exchanges and technology development, as well as cultivation of professionals that know both Chinese and international rules.

Donghua has been reputable in educational cooperation with Belt and Road countries, with an increasing number of students from these countries.

Wang Lejun, general manager of the Shanghaitex (Africa) Ltd Co, welcomed the establishment of the new research center. He said its company planned to set up a technical school in Ethiopia to train local employees and hoped the new center could join in the efforts.
