Association of young talent established

An association of youth talent in foreign invested enterprises in Shanghai was set up on Saturday to enhance their mutual connection and encourage them to play an active role in the city development.

The association was set up jointly by the Shanghai Communist Youth League Committee and the China International Intellectech (Shanghai) Corp, a state owned human resources service company to cater to the city's demand for talent as Shanghai is trying to build itself as a global center for economy, finance, trade shipping, as well as scientific and technological innovation.

Liu Wei, deputy secretary of the Shanghai Communist Youth League Committee, pointed out that Shanghai, as an international metropolis, had attracted a lot of international companies, that has set up 616 regional headquarters and 419 research and development centers.

"The foreign invested enterprises hire about about 1.7 million employees, many of whom are professionals younger than 40," he said. "They are looking forward to a platform to better understand the city and make more contributions to its development. The association will meet their demand."

The organization now has its first batch of 168 members, 70 percent of whom are high-ranking mangers in the enterprises.

It will encourage them to participate more actively in programs involving city  management to give full play to their capabilities.

Platforms will also be built up for the young talent to cooperate in innovation and commercialize their innovative findings.

The association will also work out report on development of young talent in foreign invested enterprises in Shanghai.
