Shanghai mayor meets UAE ambassador to China
Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong met Ali Obaid Al Dhaheri, the United Arab Emirates ambassador to China, and his delegation last Friday.
Ying thanked the United Arab Emirates for supporting Shanghai to host the 46th Worldskills Competition. Ying said the UAE is the biggest export market and the second largest trade partner of China in the Arab world. The two countries have extensive cooperation. Shanghai and Dubai are sister cities, and Shanghai is willing to strengthen the existing cooperation with the UAE in finance, urban infrastructure construction and energy.
Shanghai is preparing the 2021 Worldskills Competition, while Dubai is preparing for the 2020 World Expo. Shanghai and Dubai can learn from each other’s experience in hosting major world events, Ying added.
Aldhaheri said both China and the UAE value greatly economic development, people’s welfare, and through mutual trust and benefit, the two countries’ cooperation in various industries has produced great results.
Shanghai is an impressive city and the UAE wishes Shanghai to host a successful Worldskills Competition, said Aldhaheri, who also expressed his hope for expanding cooperation with Shanghai into more areas and industries.
Rashed Alqemzi, the UAE consul-general in Shanghai, also attended the meeting.
