Shanghai launches plan to improve quality in 11 sectors

Shanghai has launched a quality improvement plan in its bid to bring a number of local service, manufacturing, shopping and cultural brands to international level by 2020.

The plan will focus on 11 sectors such as services, food, foreign trade, agricultural products, drugs and high-end equipment manufacturing, according to the Shanghai Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau.

The service quality in such sectors as medical treatment, tourism, seniors care, logistics and catering will be highlighted, according to the bureau.

The bureau officials said they hope to back up the effort with Internet and big data. 

A number of world-class industry clusters will be formed, represented by high-end energy equipment, marine engineering equipment and high-tech shipping, new energy and smart vehicles, electronics and communication equipment, aviation equipment and intelligent manufacturing.
