Unsung heroes sacrifice family time for the city on Chinese New Year's Eve

Shanghai Daily followed some of them on the night of Chinese New Year's Eve to see their lives.

Spring Festival is the time when wanderers head home and families get together. While the majority rejoice in the feast, a few sacrifice their time with family to keep Shanghai running smoothly.

These people work in essential services like sanitation, security and public transport. Shanghai Daily followed just a few of them on the night of Chinese New Year’s Eve to see their lives.

By sharing their hard work and devotion, we hope to shine a little light on the city’s hard workers — those unsung heroes — at the dawn of the Year of the Dog.
