An alliance for the development of foreign language discipline was jointly set up today at Shanghai International Studies University by 153 universities across China.

Under the China University Alliance for the Development of Foreign Language and Literature Discipline, the member schools are looking forward to improving their education and research ability to better serve the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.

The alliance will work out plans and explore routes for the development of the discipline in the new era.

It will also promote cross-school and cross-regional cooperation to build up a first-class teaching team and cultivate world-class talent.

It will organize member schools to join hands in solving major theoretical and realistic problems.

The universities will also build up an academic community to share resources by using Internet plus technologies.
