Wujiaochang Wanda Cinema opened its new LED screening hall today for the premiere of the sci-fi blockbuster “Pacific Rim: Uprising.”

The screening hall, the first of its kind in Shanghai, offers a more immersive cinema-going experience for movie buf.

With 4K definition and HDR (high-dynamic range) technology, films shown on the LED screen boast enhanced brightness and color contrast.

Professionals from the Shanghai Film Distribution and Exhibition Association noted that LED screening halls will have multiple functions like theater, gaming, conferences and concerts.

They are expected to be widely used in cinemas across the city.
