BRACE for a wet Qingming Festival this week.

It will rain across the city today and tomorrow but the mercury will remain stable, ranging between 17 and 24 degrees Celsius. Fog may envelop the skies in the morning.

Showers and drizzles are also forecast for Qingming Festival on Thursday. A cold front from the north will cool the city with temperatures dropping between 12 and 16 degrees.

Chinese people commemorate their ancestors and deceased loved ones by visiting their tombs on Qingming.

The rains will stop on Friday but the mercury will continue to fall. On Friday and Saturday, the low temperature will touch 8 degrees. But it will gradually rise from Sunday, weather forecasters said.

It has been warm so far since the city officially entered spring on March 11, Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.

From March 23, downtown Xujiahui has recorded 11 consecutive days of high temperature of 20 degrees and higher. The hottest day was last Sunday when a high of 26.7 degrees was recorded.
