Line 13 construction to be completed in May
Track construction in the second and third phases of Metro Line 13 will be completed by the end of May, with trial operation starting this year, Shanghai Shentong Metro Group said.
A more advanced track laying machine has been introduced to the project, increasing efficiency and safety.
According to Metro operators, while traditional track layers can finish laying 33.9 meters of track a day, the new type can achieve 50. In addition, the new track layer doesn’t need to work on tracks itself, reducing the cost of installing supporting tracks and stands.
The second and third phases of Line 13 cover a length of 15.3 kilometers and 12 stations. After completion, Line 13 will stop at 31 stations starting from Jiading District to the Pudong New Area.
