Man held for sexually harassing schoolgirls
A man has been detained for allegedly sexually harassing schoolgirls, Shanghai police have said.
Police at Xinguang Police Station in Minhang District started an investigation after a parent reported the case to them on Monday evening.
In a video shot by the parent, the suspect was seen touching schoolgirls while distributing leaflets outside a school.
Shanghai Morning Post posted the video on its Weibo account on Tuesday.
The suspect, surnamed Mao, was caught later on Monday in his rented apartment and has allegedly owned up.
Mao, who's from out of town, works as a tutor for schoolchildren in this apartment and was distributing ads for his tutoring business at the time, police said.
Meanwhile, a man has been detained in downtown Jing'an District for allegedly molesting a woman while she was asleep in a car parked outside a bar on Taizhou Road, police said.
District police received a report from the woman about 1:30am last Sunday.
The woman claimed she fell asleep in the car after drinking in a restaurant. The suspect was driving the car at the time.
A man, surnamed Gu, surrendered to police later on Sunday and has owned up, police said.
