A food delivery man has been detained for allegedly stealing an e-bike from another food delivery worker, Shanghai police said on Thursday.

Police at Nanmatou Road Police Station, Pudong, received a report from a food delivery man on March 31 that his e-bike, which was parked outside a hospital, was missing after returning from a delivery.

From street surveillance cameras, police soon tracked down the suspect and discovered that he, too, works delivering food.

The suspect, a man surnamed Yang, was seen stashing the stolen e-bike at a nearby residential complex. He later returned and took the bike home with him.

Yang later met the stolen e-bike owner at the scene and told him that he saw two men stealing it.

The stolen e-bike wasn’t locked, according to police.

Yang was caught on the evening of April 2.
