Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang met Henry Tang Ying-yen, president of the Federation of Hong Kong Jiangsu Community Organizations, and his delegation on Monday.

Li said the federation played an active and important role in promoting the exchange and cooperation between Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland, especially the Yangtze River Delta regions. Shanghai is working hard to build itself into a global financial, economic, trade, shipping, technological and innovation center, as well as an excellent and influential global metropolis.

Hong Kong and Shanghai have frequent exchanges, and the city hopes to deepen the cooperation with Hong Kong in finance, trade, cultural industries and youth exchanges. The city welcomes Hong Kong and the federation to promote the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta regions.

Tang said Hong Kong’s economic prosperity is closely linked to China’s 40-year opening-up and reforms. Hong Kong has extensive cooperation with Shanghai in various industries and the two can strengthen the existing cooperation while promoting the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta regions.

Zhuge Yujie, secretary-general of the CPC Shanghai Committee, and Shi Xiaolin, minister of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Shanghai Committee, also attended the meeting.
