Shanghai mayor meets Oslo governing mayor and also head of UNIDO
Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong met Raymond Johansen, governing mayor of Oslo, and Li Yong, head of United Nations Industrial Development Organization, respectively on Thursday.
Ying welcomed his guests to participate in the 6th China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair and briefed them on the city’s social and economic development. As China’s economic center, Shanghai is accelerating the construction of the city into an international economy, finance, shipping and trade center as well as a technology and innovation center. It is also building a new manufacturing industrial system based on modern services and new strategic industries.
In the meantime, the city is working hard to build itself into an excellent global metropolis of innovation, culture and ecology. Shanghai is a window of the country’s opening-up and reforms and it will unfalteringly promote and deepen the reforms. The city welcomes Norway and companies from all over the world and UNIDO to participate in the upcoming China International Import Expo in November.
The city is willing to strengthen the cooperation with Oslo in technology, education, environmental protection and maritime affairs. Also, it wants to cooperate with UNIDO to promote the city’s construction of new strategic industries, Ying said.
Johansen said Oslo is an innovative European city and it supports economic globalization. It is willing to learn from Shanghai’s experience with a forward thinking and an open mind.
Li said UNIDO has supported China’s development for a long time and has introduced China’s experience to other parts of the world. The city’s achievements have been impressive and UNIDO is willing to participate in the upcoming CIIE and promote the cooperation between China and other participating countries.
