Roads to be closed due to cycling race in Chongming

Some roads on Chongming Island will be closed from tomorrow to Saturday due to an international women’s cycling race.

On Friday, the section of the G40 Expressway that links the island to the urban area from Gaodong to Chenhai toll gates will be closed from 10am to 1pm, police said yesterday.

On the island itself, traffic will be banned tomorrow in the area surrounded by Chongming Avenue and Baodao, Qiaosong and Gulangyu roads in Chengqiao Town from 4-6pm.

The race will be held in the western part of the island on Thursday and in the eastern part on Friday, and on Saturday it will be held in an area near the Chongming District government.

The race, called the “Tour of Chongming Island (China),” is an event on this year’s calendar of the UCI Women’s WorldTour.
