Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang met Robert Iger, chairman of the Walt Disney Company, and his delegation on Wednesday.

Li showed his appreciation for the cooperation between Walt Disney Co and Shanghai. He said China’s opening-up and reforms have achieved great results in the past 40 years and they inspired Shanghai to keep taking the leading position to deepen the reforms. As the country’s window and the piloting field of the reforms, the city is accelerating the process of building itself into an international economic, financial, trade and shipping center as well as a technology and innovation center. It also strives to become an excellent and influential socialist metropolis.

During the process, Shanghai will open its door wider to the outside world and welcome domestic and foreign companies to increase their investment in the city and share business opportunities. The city looks forward to further strengthening cooperation with Walt Disney Co.

Iger said Shanghai’s achievements have been impressive since he first visited the city in 1994. The company has great faith in China and Shanghai’s development and will take part in the city’s building of the “four brands,” and it will try to blend in China’s culture and strive to give the tourists better experience at Shanghai Disney Resort.

Zhou Bo, Shanghai’s executive vice mayor, and Zhuge Yujie, secretary-general of the CPC Shanghai Committee, also attended the meeting.
