Koreans among 14 injured in car accident

Fourteen people were injured in a road accident involving three cars that rear-ended each other in Pudong yesterday.

Two Chinese women suffered serious injuries in the accident with one of them in ICU.

Among the injured were 12 South Korean nationals who were treated at Shanghai East Hospital’s South Branch and later released after treatment.

The accident occurred on Middle Ring Road at the junction of Shangnan Road at about 4:30pm.

The Chinese woman, who is in ICU, suffered bone fractures in her chest, neck and ribs as well as pneumothorax and multiple soft tissue injuries.

The other Chinese woman fractured bones in her pelvis and lumbar disc, the hospital said. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
