Man to go on trial for operating unlicensed radio
A man accused of illegally broadcasting ads of sex drugs via an unlicensed radio will go on trial on charges of disturbing the order of radio management, according to prosecutors of Jinshan District.
Radio management officials detected an unlicensed radio in Baoshan District and reported to police on December 1, 2017. Police traced to a local apartment, where they seized the device.
The suspect, surnamed Wang, who was not at the scene, was nabbed at his home on December 20, 2017, in Jinshan.
Wang said his friend surnamed Wei contacted him in November 2017. Wei told him to use fake identity to rent an apartment on high floors for him, with a promising hefty pay. There, Wang and Wei put up an unlicensed radio and illegally aired ads around the clock.
People living within 20 kilometers can receive the signal, investigation showed.
Wei is still being hunted, prosecutors said.
