The Fifth People’s Hospital of Fudan University is acting as a “transfer station” where patients from neighboring healthcare centers in Minhang District can go through green channels to be treated at the city’s renowned Huashan Hospital.

General practitioners in neighborhood healthcare centers can report to doctors at the Fifth Hospital when they find difficulties in treating patients. Then, patients can be directly transferred to be treated by medical experts in certain fields. If the patients’ conditions turn worse, top doctors at Huashan Hospital will take over the job.

After information and resources are shared, neighborhood healthcare centers deal with non-emergency cases and renowned hospital tackle bigger difficulties, which is an effective way to provide “precise medicine,” according to Lu Feizhou, director of the Fifth Hospital.

Also, it offers a platform for doctors at neighborhood healthcare centers and Fifth Hospital to learn and exchange ideas with the city’s top doctors, he added.
