Police: Man "killed ex-wife, daughter and then himself"

The apparent murder-suicide was caused by family disputes, police said after a preliminary investigation.

A man died when he fell from a highrise after allegedly killing his ex-wife and daughter in their apartment in an apparent murder-suicide case on Saturday, police said on Sunday.

The man killed the two due to family disputes and then committed suicide, police said after a preliminary investigation.

Weng, 36, and her 4-year-old daughter were found dead in an apartment in a residential complex on Guangxin Road, Putuo District, at about 11am on Saturday.

About 50 minutes later, Gu, 39 years old, was found dead at the foot of a highrise building on nearby Shiquan Road, police said.

Police said they have ruled out the possibility that Gu was murdered based on the conclusions of forensic experts. The investigation is continuing.
