Wax Printing

Wax printing works by batik master Ma Zhengrong will be exhibited at Cheng Shifa Art Museum from June 9 to August 31. Ma, who was born in 1928, won the Chinese Arts and Crafts Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. After graduating from China Academy of Art in 1952, Ma dedicated his life to collecting, sorting, researching and creating wax printing art in Guizhou Province. Decades of hard work has resulted in an abundance of delicate batik works with ethnic minority characteristics and regional styles. This exhibition will showcase important batik works by Ma, as well as his possessions, photos, books and manuscripts. Visitors will also see treasured batik works with Guizhou ethnic minority traits collected by Ma. To promote batik art among youth, the museum will also hold lectures and summer holiday training sessions for youngsters.
