The 2018 Shanghai International Film Festival will hold a "Belt and Road Week" to enhance cooperation in film among countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Organizers of about 30 film festivals in these countries are expected to form a coalition, which will include the Cairo International Film Festival, the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, and the Malaysia International Film Festival, according to a press release from the SIFF organizer earlier this week.

Under the coalition, the film festivals plan to share information, recommend films, invite filmmakers and start joint projects, the statement said.

The 2018 SIFF will be held from June 16 to 25.

Chinese director and actor Jiang Wen will chair the seven-member Jury for Fiction Competition of the Golden Goblet Awards, according to the statement.

The Jury for Documentary Competition will be chaired by Pirjo Honkasalo, Finnish director, cinematographer, screenwriter and producer, while the Jury for Animation Competition will be headed by French director Jacques-Remy Girerd.
