Tie the knot the traditional way in Jiading
Ten couples wearing traditional Chinese costume tied the knot at the Confucian Temple in Jiading District on Saturday with ancient ceremonial rituals followed.
The event aims to promote traditional Chinese culture and enhance couples' sense of responsibility over the establishment of a family, said Zhang Hongying, director of the Jiading District marriage registration management center.
The Confucian Temple built in 1219 was redecorated for the special ceremony, and the couples followed a number of rites, including listening to the instructions from seniors, making a bow to each other, and expressing their gratitude to their parents in the traditional way.
They also made promises of fulfilling the duty of marriage during the ceremony.
