Shanghai Circus World, built in 1999, will begin renovations this summer, with its famous multimedia spectacular “Era ─ Intersection of Time” winding up its 13-year daily performance at the end of June.

The multimedia show combines traditional Chinese acrobatics with Western entertainment. It features an ingenious visual narrative that connects past and present China.

The show has been staged about 5,000 times since its debut in 2005, with around 5 million theatergoers from home and abroad captivated by its stunning visuals and originality over the past decade.

A series of events will be held in June where unknown stories about the show’s performers will be shared with the audience. Special souvenirs will also be offered.

During the renovation of Shanghai Circus World, “Era ─ Intersection of Time” may be relocated to a moving theater.

Renovations at Shanghai Circus World will last for about a year. The new theater will feature more hi-tech facilities and original shows with distinctive Shanghai elements.
