Former chief procurator under investigation for 'serious violations'

Ye Qing, former Party secretary and chief procurator of Shanghai People’s Prosecutors’ Office's first branch, is now under investigation by the city's discipline inspection commission and supervisory commission.

The 62-year-old is suspected of serious violations of Party discipline and the law, the disciplinary watchdog announced.

Ye served as Party secretary and chief procurator at Changning District People's Procuratorate between 2000 and 2002. He later became deputy Party secretary and deputy chief procurator at Shanghai People’s Prosecutors’ Office's first branch through July 2003. He was the Party secretary and chief procurator of Shanghai People’s Prosecutors’ Office's second branch between 2003 and 2008. After that, he returned to the first branch and served as its Party secretary and chief procurator until December 2015.
