A man from Africa was caught on Tuesday night carrying 250 grams of marijuana, Shanghai railway police told Shanghai Daily.

The man was caught with the drugs as he arrived at Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station on a train from Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province.

“The man looked nervous and lingered near an inspection spot, which aroused our suspicion that he might have taken along some banned items,” said Zhou Xiang, chief of police at the railway station.

Inspection found marijuana disguised as tea leaves. The man has been handed to local police for further investigation, Zhou said.

The railway police at Hongqiao station have combated more than 20 drug cases and seized over 350 grams of drugs this year.

The China Narcotics Control Foundation launched a program on Thursday at the station to promote public awareness around narcotic drugs and join in drug control.
