More original Chinese series to reach foreign viewers
Following the success of Chinese costume spy drama “Princess Agents” on YouTube and broadcasting platforms worldwide, celebrated Film and TV production company Ciwen Media plans to produce more original high-quality series for a global audience.
The company’s new urban romance drama “All Out of Love” will debut on Hunan Satellite TV and iQiyi this summer. It depicts the growth of a group of young people from young campus love to career challenges. The drama, about the lives and emotions of China’s younger generation, will also be broadcast overseas.
Sports series “Speed,” which centers around the car racing dream of young people, will also air on Dragon TV and Tencent in the summer.
The company’s new broadcasting and production projects also include period drama “The Dream and the Glory,” a fantasy series based on the hit online novel “Zi Chuan,” historical Sino-US series “Shanghai 1920,” and suspense series “Ye Xiao and I.”
According to Ma Zhongjun, president of Ciwen Media, Chinese film and TV productions are increasingly popular in the global market these days in terms of China’s growing cultural and economic influences.
Ma said that the genres of sci-fi, anti-drugs and suspense are among the most popular Chinese productions with foreign viewers.
