The “Love Summer Care Camp,” a popular government-organized summer camp, will expand to 509 sites this year, up from 432 last year.

Shanghai Youth League, the organizer of the program, said on Friday it will open a green way for children of construction workers of the China International Import Expo.

Either a camp recruiting only the construction workers' kids will be held, or such kids will be given priority in signing up for the camps, according to the organizer.

In cooperation with non-profit organizations, the camp will offer over 100,000 classes of colorful contents to primary school pupils.

A total of 12,000 university and middle school students will serve as volunteers for the kids.

The fee for each term which lasts about four weeks is 800 yuan (US$124) which includes lunch, insurance and facility costs.

The camp, for its affordability and quality classes, is welcomed by many parents who vie for seats for their children every year. The organizer said this year kids from low-income families will still be given priority just like in past years.
