Zhenping Road Station of Line 3 and 4 will begin renovating its station hall and platform from June 25, Shanghai Shentong Metro Reporters said.

During renovations, the west hall of the station will be shut down, and passengers are advised to enter the station or change to Line 7 from the east station hall.

Meanwhile, the passageway of exit 2 and 3 will become narrower because of the construction, so Metro operators will arrange more staff to help keep order.

The toilets in the station will be temporarily closed during certain stages of the renovation and construction.

Built in 2000, about 108,000 people commute through the station every work day. But facilities in the station are falling short when it comes to meeting passengers' increased demands.

The west and east halls of the station are not connected, so passengers can only change to Line 7 via the east hall.

After the renovation, the two station halls will be connected so that passengers commuting from the west hall won't have to get to the east hall via the platform before they make a change. Two escalators will be added while another two will be relocated for more efficient usage.

The renovation is estimated to finish around December 20.
