Shanghai weather bureau issued this years’ first orange alert for heat, forecasting the mercury would hit 37 degrees Celcius on Tuesday.

The heat alert was issued at 9:43am. Affected by subtropical high, the temperature is climbing quickly, the meteorological bureau said.

The highest temperature in downtown area, Baoshan, Jiading, Minhang, Qingpu, Songjiang and the northern part of Pudong will exceed 37 degrees while the rest of the city will see a highest temperature of 35 degrees.
