50,000 kids kick start government summer care program

The “Love Summer Care Camp”, a government-organized program for primary school kids to address their parents’ absence during the summer holiday, opened in 509 sites around the city on Monday.

In cooperation with non-profit organizations, the camp will offer over 100,000 classes of colorful contents to about 50,000 kids in the next two months, the organizer Shanghai Youth League said.

At the camp site at the New Jiangwan Town subdistrict in Yangpu District, kids were given an interactive lecture on China’s achievements in development on Monday morning.

Kids at this site will also learn to play go, draw Chinese paintings, solve Rubik's cubes, explore science by DIY and act in stage dramas.
