University students in Songjiang celebrated their graduation in an unusual way — with a ride on a roller coaster.

The 60 students, from 10 universities in the district, rode on the 1,200-meter attraction at Shanghai Happy Valley wearing their academic robes.

As they rode the wooden roller coaster, nicknamed the “Grandfather of All Big Dippers,” the 60 students shouted: “We graduated!” All agreed it had been great fun.

A student surnamed Cheng from East China University of Political Science and Law said it had been a special way to end his busy years as a student.

Among the other schools where the 60 graduates came from were Shanghai International Studies University, Donghua University and Shanghai University of Engineering Science.

Six students were selected from each school for the celebration. The ceremony co-sponsors were China Communist Youth League Songjiang District commission and Huaqiaocheng Investment and Development Co.
