Public brawl at high-end complex 'just a rumor': police
A man has been detained for allegedly starting a rumor that two residents of a luxurious residential complex in Shanghai were planning to have a brawl, police said on Friday.
A picture of the notice announcing the "brawl" went viral on the Internet earlier this month.
The announcement said two residents of Tomson Riviera in Pudong New Area decided to have a fist fight in the residential complex on July 19 due to a "personal grudge."
Pudong police said they launched an investigation after spotting the post online, but no fight took place at the time stated in the announcement.
The suspect who started the rumor, a man surnamed Shao, was later caught by police.
Shao has allegedly confessed and said he first posted the pictures in a few QQ groups.
