Officials at a new services center in Plaza 66 help company human resources workers understand policies that affect their operations.

In Jing’an, there are 67 commercial buildings generating annual tax revenue of more than 100 million yuan (US$14.78 million).

The Jing’ansi commercial hub was ranked as the most dynamic in a report released at the end of last year.

What makes Jing’an such a popular place for retailers and companies? Good service is one important factor.

It’s not an easy job to satisfy every tenant in an office building housing dozens of firms and thousands of employees. But Jing’an is making that happen.

In late June, a new services office opened in Plaza 66 on Nanjing Road W. Officials from several different government departments work in the office, assisting companies in a variety of ways.

The Kaidike Building on Jiangning Road has created a program catering to individual workers. It created a rooftop amenities area, providing a canteen, barber shop and other services that make the lives of employees more convenient.

“Desk jockeys like to take a walk or play badminton in the rooftop recreation area during their noon break,” said the head of the building’s labor federation. “They want a canteen that serves delicious but affordable meals. We do everything to cater to their needs.”

The service also hosts social events where employees from different company offices can mix and meet.
