An annual exhibition of lotus at Guyi Garden features space-breeding lotus as well as traditional species. More than 500 varieties of lotus and water lily are on display at the iconic suburban garden’s water lily pond and bonsai area. The lotus is universally acknowledged as a symbol of purity, beauty and spiritual enlightenment. Lotus-related cultural events, such as an exhibition of Dongba culture, dating back more than 2,000 years and originating among Naxi people, are also being held, along with a ceramics exhibition and a flower arrangement display show.
