The former vice president of Shanghai Ocean University has been expelled from the Communist Party of China and from public office, Shanghai's anti-graft body announced on Friday.

Li Yanchen, 53, was found to have used his position to seek profit for others and took a "huge" amount of bribes, “voluntarily making himself easy prey” for others, the CPC Shanghai Commission for Discipline Inspection said.

Other offenses include intervening in judicial affairs and not reporting personal matters to authorities according to the rules.

His illegal gains will be confiscated and his case transferred to the judiciary.
