Illegal gas sellers jailed
Two men who ran an illegal gas business have been imprisoned by a Jiading District court.
From May 2017, Liu drove a mobile refueling rig fitted in a van to a parking lot in Jiading every day. He sold gas to taxi drivers and driving instructors, charging less than the market price, prosecutors said.
Liu purchased the gas from Shi, a salesman with an oil company. The two were caught in January this year.
In China, a license is required for any dangerous chemical operation and a retail gas permit is required to sell gas. Liu had neither.
Shi was aware that Liu did not have any of the mandatory permits, but still sold him more than 30 tons of gas worth more than 150,000 yuan (US$22,000).
Shi was sentenced to 20 months and Liu to 18 months.
