Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park will start trial operations on October 1, the National Day holiday, but it will be hard to get a ticket.

Trial operations will last until November 15, but the park will close in four days between October 8 and 11 and officially open on November 16.

Until October 19, tickets are only available on the park website and WeChat platform and the number of tickets is restricted. From October 20, people can book tickets at the park’s ticket booths and other platforms.

During the trial operation, the park will open from 9:30am to 5pm from Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm over the weekend and national holidays.

A cruise ship-themed resort hotel will open on November 16. Booking will open on October 20.

This year,for adults and children above 1.4 meters tall, a “normal-day” ticket will cost 299 yuan (US$44) and a “peak-day” ticket for weekends and nation holidays will cost 360 yuan. 

Children between 1 and 1.4 meters tall, seniors aged 65 or above, and the disabled will be charged 170 yuan on “normal days” and 230 yuan on “peak days. Children at or below 1 meter are admitted free.

Visitors can also enjoy interactive shows with dolphins, orcas and sea lions, in additional to 4D cinema shows and rides.

The park is expected to receive more than 4 million tourists in its first year.
