Ten water and environmental activists shared their opinions and advanced practice in environmental protection at a forum held on Sunday in Jing’an District.

The ten, from China, France, Brazil and other countries, gave lectures and exchanged ideas like how to combine environmental-friendly concepts in urban construction at the 4th World Water Source Summit, organized by the social group Oriental Danology Institute.

Joseph van der Elst, an expert in urban energy optimization from France, introduced the concept of "active house," in which natural water is used to activate the heating and cooling system of a house.

Chen Zhengjun, an expert on water treatment, proposed the idea of using micro-organisms instead of chemicals to process waste water in a natural way.

To better promote such "green" concepts to every household, the ten environmental activists plan to give lectures, open classes and hold exhibitions across the city’s communities.
