Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong met Tsai Hong-tu, chairman of the Cathay Financial Holdings in Taiwan, and his delegation on Monday.

Ying said the Chinese mainland and Taiwan are inseparable parts of an community of common destiny with shared future and interests. It’s vitally important to uphold the “One China” policy and the 1992 Consensus.

Currently, Shanghai is accelerating the process of building itself into an international center of economy, finance, trade, shipping, and a technology and innovation center. It is also working hard to build itself into an excellent metropolis and a globally influential modern socialist city.

The city has introduced 100 new measures to promote Shanghai-Taiwan economic and cultural exchanges to create a top business environment for Cathay Financial Holdings and other Taiwanese compatriots.

The city will keep promoting the cultural and economic exchanges with Taiwan and enhance the wellbeing of the people in both places, Ying added.

Tsai said Cathay Financial Holdings has achieved great development results since it branched into Shanghai. The company will promote the integrated development of finance and technology, explore new business models, and support Shanghai in its efforts to build itself into an international financial center.
