The Pudong New Area will offer 15 activities for the upcoming annual Shanghai Tourism Festival, ranging from comedy shows and exhibitions to a beer festival and triathlon, tourism officials announced on Thursday.

Some of the events in detail

The landmark Oriental Pearl TV Tower will stage a comedy festival between September 17 and 29, with artists from Edinburgh ready to have visitors in stitches. More than 500 residents, tourists and expats will be invited to light up the spheres of the tower as part of the festival.

The Shanghai Science and Technology Museum will host an exhibition on inventor Nikola Tesla from September 29, and a huge magic mirror at the 88th-floor observatory of Shanghai's Jinmao Tower will be the venue of a visual show between September 15 and October 7.

A triathlon will be staged in the Dishui Lake area on September 15 and 16, while a running event ranging from 3.5 to 10 kilometers in length will be held at the Shanghai International Resort on the same days, with routes including Shanghai Disney Resort and Disney Town.

A beer festival featuring German delicacies, beer and live music will be held in Pudong as well, between September 18 and 24.

For those looking for a bit of exercise and some interesting facts, a walking tour stringing Binjiang area in Pudong will set off on October 1.

Twenty tourist attractions, including Shanghai Wild Animal Park, Oriental Pearl TV Tower and Jinmao Tower in Pudong, will offer half-price admission from September 15 to 21.

This year’s Shanghai Tourism Festival will kick off on Huaihai Road M. with a street parade on the night of September 15 and run through October 6.
